Tips for Foreigners
The adult entertainment industry in Japan could be considered a little racist. Many establishments will simply refuse entrance to foreigners (”gaijin” is foreigner in Japanese). One reason why is a language barrier, some places have certain or strict rules so sometimes places are afraid you will not understand if you are not Japanese; however, even if you speak fluent Japanese there is still a good chance that you will be refused adult services just because you are foreign. Yes I know, it is discriminatory and racist, but that is the way it is. That being said, there are places that will gladly accept your money and provide you with their services. Here are some tips:
- Speak in your most polite Japanese.
- Dress nicely
- Go at times of the day when the places are not so busy (weekdays, day time).
- If they immediate refuse you and say in English, “Japanese Only,” respond in Japanese saying that you speak Japanese.
- Have patience because more often than not you will be rejected by many places.
- Go with a Japanese friend or two.
